Does the practice offer free consultations?
If you are interested in using your insurance, but do not have BCBS/Anthem or Aetna. You would essentially be a cash paying client. However, based on your specific insurance plan, you might have out of network benefits, which means you can get reimbursed for your session. I would provide you an invoice following session that you would then submit to your insurance provider and await reimbursement. It is always wise to contact your insurance provider before meeting to be sure. I am happy to look into your out of network benefits on your behalf to assist with this process.
What does “Out of Network Benefits” mean?
We do not, the reason being is that we sincerely believe that the best way to get a good sense as to whether a counselor would be a good fit is to devote 50 minutes in talking with them to get a genuine feel for their style, which is typically what happens in the first session; building rapport, sharing a little of one's story if the client feels comfortable, and more time for questions/addressing concerns. We hope that you can understand our reasoning, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
How can I set up a session with a counselor?
We ask that you first submit an inquiry on our website expressing interest in counseling. You can include in your inquiry if you have a preference in working with a specific counselor, and we will check to see if that counselor is available. If you plan to use insurance, we would need to look into your mental health/behavioral health benefits with your insurance plan. With that said, we ask that you complete our online insurance form on our website, and allow up to 48 business hours for an update. Once we learn of your benefits and confirm with you, you will then be introduced electronically to your counselor. Additionally, you will gain access to your client portal where you will be able to schedule sessions with your assigned counselor, as well as complete the new client paperwork before your first session.
How Does Faith Based Counseling work ?
Faith based counseling is a separate offering available to interested clients. The overall method of care generally operates from a holistic perspective. When one is considering and incorporating the mind, body and spirit - spirit typically referring to something greater than oneself, a deeper level of healing can be achieved. This can be incorporated in session regardless of specific faith or religion. There are counselors within Healing Hearts that are Christian; however, sessions do not entail going over scripture, or praying in session. Rather, it is the ability to share your thoughts and feelings towards God by discussing His role in your life so that you can stay centered, focused and faithful even in the midst of trials.
There is a new client intake packet that is to be completed before meeting that addresses whether spirituality is an area of value or interest. For those who are not interested in faith based counseling, we discuss the Mind, Body and Soul (meaning doing good for others, focusing less on the self). The number one goal of counseling is for clients to feel safe and heard in a very non-judgmental environment. For those of different faiths or no faith, counselors never guide towards any particular faith - this would be ethically wrong in the field of professional counseling. Counseling aims to help clients better understand themselves in relation to the world they live in, regardless of faith. For any additional questions, please send an inquiry.
Good Faith Estimate
Per the No Surprises Act of 2022, all medical providers are now required to provide a good faith estimate to its clients/patients, which include all mental health professionals. The good faith estimate is to provide as much transparency as possible of what costs could be accrued during your work with your clinician/counselor. This applies to those unable to use insurance or prefer to be self-paying clients.
For example, if you wish to attend weekly sessions for 1 year (52 weeks), our good faith estimate is an approximate total of $4,680.00 if meeting with a Resident Counselor or $6,500.00 if meeting with a Licensed Counselor. Please note that you are under no obligation to attend for any particular duration of time. Treatment may take shorter or longer and your counselor will have open conversations about that throughout your work together.
Some clients feel better enough after 12-15 sessions that they graduate within that time, and conclude sessions. Others find that they enjoy the process of therapy and want to approach another goal together. You and your counselor can also assess that as you go. You are only charged on a per session basis.
